Artist Ernesto Neto (featured on this blog previously) has an installation opening on May 14 at the Park Avenue Armory. For Anthropodino, an epic immersive installation in Wade Thompson Drill Hall (the space made somewhat famous in Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche, New York), Neto will be using "hundreds of yards of translucent material, [to] suspend a gigantic canopy from the drill hall’s latticework truss, spanning 120 feet wide and 180 feet long. Magnificent, aromatic 'fabric stalactites' descend 60 feet to embrace a vast labyrinth of passageways and rooms."

No preliminary images are available on the Park Armory web site or in the installation's press release (PDF link), so we'll have to wait until May 14 to see exactly how Neto tries to make the space even more impressive. I'm sure plenty of photos will be making the rounds on the blogosphere, and I'll try to add some of my own when I'm able to check out the installation. Anthropodino runs until June 14.
