Half Dose #98: BLUETUBE

The folks that go by the great name DOSE sent me some information on their BLUETUBE installation. It's quite an apt moniker:

BLUETUBE was built as a "feasible and flexible low-cost constructive resource" for the annual academic festival in Porto, Portugal: Queima das Fitas do Porto 2010. It was mandated to be a 3x3-meter square in plan (about 10 by 10 feet) and up to 5 meters (16 feet) tall. Coined by DOSE as the TUBE-IT system, it envelops a wooden frame that was then used as a bar. At night the top portion of the construction glowed blue, a booze beacon, if you will.

The blue corrugated pipe simply wrapped the frame, tied together with standard plastic clamps. The latter gives the object its distinctive hairiness; it's like an alien cactus landed in Porto.
